How to: Be More Productive/Study Better ♥

Hey lovelies! School season has started and for a lot of students it is very easy to be organized and motivated in the beginning of the semester, but as the work load increases, the motivation tends to go away and the stress takes over! I think it is the same for jobs and anything else that requires undivided attention. If you are beginning to feel overwhelmed and messy, I got some tips that have kept me right on task and hopefully will help you as well!

So here is how I stay motivated & productive:

1- Wake up Early & Workout
I know this is easier said than done, but from personal experience I have found that if I make an effort to wake up extra early to get to have my me time and workout, the rest of my day ends up being way better. I usually wake up and have my cup of coffee very, very slowly while just chilling on the sofa. Afterwards, I put on my workout gear and before my brain even has time to "turn on" completely, I am already warming up and getting at least 30 minutes of workout in. This sudden boost of energy from your workout is perfect to get your day started the right way!

2- Get Dressed!
Even if you work/study from home, or are on your busy "catch up" weekends, getting properly dressed (aka NO PAJAMA BOTTOMS) helps to make your mind realize it is time to work/study and resting time is over (for now). Put on your favorite shirt, jeans, sandals, fix your hair and even throw in a bit of make up...anything you need to do to feel you are getting ready to conquer your daily tasks.

3- Eat Healthy/Get Energy
As I said before, coffee is a must for me but I know some people stay away from caffeine and instead drink some green tea or something else to get their own energy. It is also very important to eat healthy and get the proper nutrition for your busy day ahead. I find having my 3 proper meals and 2 snacks in between help me stay the most filled and hunger won't be something that is going to distract me.

4- H2O, H2O, H2O
Along with the tip above, staying hydrated is not optional! Water is going to help you maintain your energy, prevent headaches and just helps your whole system work properly!

5- Get Rid of Distractions: Ear Plugs/ Airplane mode
If it's noise that is bothering you, wear ear plugs! I have gotten so used to studying with earplugs that even when I'm alone and there is silence I wear them. Try to not have any technology around if it's possible, put your phone on airplane mode or at least on vibration to help you stay concentrated. If you are reading something on the computer, try to print it and read it tech-free. I know how hard it is study from the computer because there's always Facebook/Twitter/YouTube, etc! I have also used some apps that block any distracting sites...that always helps a lot too!

6- Take Breaks!

Don't drain yourself! Try to study/work for 50 minutes and take a 10 minute break or if you are feeling particularly distracted, try to study for 20 and take a 5 minute break. Just convince yourself to work for just a bit and then get a break! I find that if I pressure myself too hard on days were I am just off, I get nothing done...but if I take it easy and do the most I can in short periods of time, it's a whole lot better and end up getting lots done!

7-  Make yourself Comfortable
Light up your favorite candle, clean the lenses on your glasses, get lots of colorful pens and highlighters to make it all a bit more fun and exciting! If colorful pens will make it easier for you to stay motivated...make sure you get lots! (I'm talking to myself, hahaha).

8- Write To-Do Lists/Get an Agenda
Writing short to do lists and marking things off once you are done with them helps keep you on track and motivated to get everything marked off! Don't be hard on yourself and write a whole bunch of things you know you won't be able to get done in one day. Make sure you prioritize your tasks and categorize them each so that they are doable! At the end of your busy day, make sure you write to-do-lists for your next day as you know exactly where you left off in that precise moment and this will help you organize your mind properly.

9- Rest
Set up a healthy schedule and know when your body needs to shut down for the day. All-nighters are not good for anyone! Make sure you get your 6-8 hours of sleep and give your brain the time it need to absorb all the information you put in it during your busy day! Use a sleeping App (Calm is my faovorite) if you need to and rest. :)

I really hope you have found this helpful and make sure to leave your own suggestions down below! I am very curious to know how you stay motivated and productive! Also, follow me on Twitter and Instagram to keep in touch!

Keep calm, relax, do yoga, stretch, don't be so hard on yourself, it will all be okay... ♥

With love,

Nikole
